Tutoring App

Your loved ones deserve to learn from trustworthy tutors who have verified background checks and levels of expertise. I know safety is paramount and my goal is to create an accessible tutoring app that helps learners reach their full potential within their education.

Empathy Maps

I created empathy maps in the initial steps of my user research and these laid the foundation of the crucial elements of this part in the design journey.

Personas

The personas informed my research in a valuable way because they allowed me to empathize with feasible profiles. I was able to consider a range of potential user groups for our tutoring product. My goal was to consider these personas without bias.

User Stories

Toneisha Phillips

As a learned nutritionist who sees the value in learning about cultures, I want to hire a long-term tutor who can instruct my children in the Spanish language so that my children will be able to learn the language during these crucial early years.

Martin Gonzalez

As a Dyslexic author and librarian who is raising my two nieces with my partner, I want to be able to find tutors for my nieces on a platform that offers assistive tech so that they can study career interests that are unavailable at their high school.

Shan Johnson

As an increasingly more in-demand single studio artist living on a limited budget, I want to find a versatile tutor for my son without having to worry if they are qualified so that on weekday evenings I can assure that he is receiving consistent instruction.

Our tutoring app will let users hire trustworthy tutors with different fields of study which will affect how people hire tutors for their loved ones by giving them the ability to select tutors who have trustworthy backgrounds and educational credentials. We will measure effectiveness by analyzing tutor hiring statistics and reviews.

Rapid Sketches: Crazy Eights

Conducting these sketches allow me to ideate freely without restriction beyond the one minute taken per each of the sketches within the eight rectangles. I did not aim to limit my ideas, I just let them flow and I believe this exercise allowed for solutions that would not have come out otherwise.

User Flow

The user task is to use the tutoring app to hire trustworthy tutors with different fields of expertise. Creating this user flow allowed me to effectively think through the steps a user should take to reach their ultimate goal. Thinking through what the user would do if they decided to pivot made things realistic for me as this may be common within the user journey. One needs to think through their decisions, especially with something as serious as hiring a tutor(s) for their loved ones.

Storyboard

Scenario: This is an app that allows guardians to hire tutors. This storyboard outlines a hypothetical scenario wherein the user journey is taken to consideration. Why would a user need our app? What value does it bring? What does that journey to end goal look like? This storyboard seeks to plot that out.

Paper Wireframes

I created paper wireframes in preparation of further exploring the potential solutions of this product, after compiling the necessary researched that informed my ideas.

Digital Wireframes

I then created digital wireframes that represent the completion of a successful user flow. Seeing the app at this stage helps further work out the concept before bettering the fidelity. Working things out at this stage is imperative in preparation for more refined iterations.
